Temporary shutdown at Quesnel River Pulp will continue at least a little longer

There is an update on the temporary shutdown at Quesnel River Pulp.

Millar Western announced in the summer that operations would be curtailed from September 4th until November 1st.

We have confirmation that it will now continue until December 1st.

Employees will be provided an update by mid-November.

Millar Western said the decision to curtail operations was the result of ongoing market challenges and the application of significant tariffs on Chinese exports.

It said those factors led to a period of sustained weakened demand, poor pricing and reduced order volumes.
