Quesnel fire fighters respond to structure fire

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called out for a structure fire over the Billy Barker Days weekend.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says they were called to a small apartment complex.

“Quesnel Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 394 Juniper Road on Friday night at approximately 9-30 p.m. Upon arrival they had heavy smoke and fire inside one of the units.”

Richert says crews were able to quickly suppress the fire and keep it contained to the one unit.

“It was a 9-1-1 call. There were no injuries and the tenants, they used ESS Services to put him in a hotel for the evening.”

Richert says the other occupants were evacuated from the building.

He says they were on scene for about two hours.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, although Richert says there was nothing suspicious about the fire.
