RV goes up in flames in Quesnel

The Quesnel Fire Department was called out to a fully involved RV fire on Sunday (May 31) night.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says they received a call at 9:32 p.m.

“Quesnel Fire Department was called to a fire in behind the Sylvain Motel on Front Street.  Upon arrival, we had a fully involved 5th wheel RV on fire in the large property next to the river.”

Richert says getting down to the fire was a bit of a challenge.

“The roadway through the property and down to that area is quite steep and a bit challenging, so we had to use one of our pickup squad units with a tank in the back.  We had to just shuttle water a couple of times, but we had the fire quickly extinguished.”

Richert says they were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby trees in the area.

He says they responded with four pieces of apparatus and 17 fire fighters.

The RV was destroyed but no one was hurt as it was vacant at the time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
