Climate projects along Highway 16 see federal funding

The federal government is providing funding to 141 municipal climate projects, including in Hazelton, Granisle, and Vanderhoof.

It is coming from the Green Municipal Fund’s Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation initiative.

In Hazelton, $70,000 is going towards developing a Climate Adaptation Plan for the village.

A similar amount is going to Granisle for its Assessing Climate Risk and Adaptation Joint Planning Initiative.

Vanderhoof is getting $68,400 for its Climate Change Risk Assessment.

In total, $34.2 million is being spent on the projects, which started taking applications in June 2024.
