YXS welcomes temporary checked baggage screening unit

A new temporary checked baggage screening unit is now operational at the Prince George Airport.

According to the Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA), the unit has significantly improved processing times, allowing CATSA to transition from a fully manual screening to a more efficient temporary screening process.

CATSA’s temporary checked baggage screening procedures will remain in place while repairs to its primary checked baggage screening continue.

The PGAA says travellers with checked baggage should:

  • Arrive at the airport at least two hours before scheduled departure.
  • Check in with airline and receive baggage tags.
  • Proceed to temporary checked baggage screening area in the International Arrivals area.
  • Remain with checked baggage until screening is complete.
  • Once baggage has been screened, proceed to Pre-Boarding Screening checkpoint.

Travel information can be found on the PG Airport website.
