School District 91 will be looking for a new Superintendent.
The District announced today (Thursday) current Superintendent Karla Mitchell has provided notice of resignation to the School District’s Board of Education, and she will be moving to a new role as Superintendent with the Vernon School District next year.
“It is regretful that Karla is leaving as she has been leading the district forward over the past two years,” said Board of Education Chair Dave Christie.
“Her dedication, leadership and focus on the Board’s Strategic Plan was evident in all her work. As Superintendent, Karla prioritized inclusion, Indigenous relations, as well as workforce recruitment and development. On behalf of the Board of Education, I wish Karla success in her new role and thank her for her contributions to our school communities.”
The Board of Education will have an in-camera meeting in one week (May 16) to discuss timelines and the next steps to fill the vacancy.
