Life claimed after crash that set tanker on fire

A vehicle that caught fire after a crash on Gibraltar Mines Road in McLeese Lake has left one dead.

Williams Lake RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident yesterday that saw a tanker truck carrying high grade explosives go off the road and be engulfed in flames.

Police said that they, along with Gibraltar Fire evacuated the area and set up containment until the explosive risk was mitigated.

It was then confirmed that an adult man had died as a result, and no names will be released.

The incident is being investigated by the RCMP and the Mines Investigation Unit.
