Cougars Parascak, Laing and Becher place favourably in NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings

A trio of Prince George Cougars continue to catch the eye of NHL scouts.

Today (Friday), Central Scouting issued its mid-term rankings of the top 60 WHL players among North American skaters.

Rookie sensation Terik Parascak was the highest-rated Cougar sitting at 14th.

The 17-year-old from Lethbridge has 60 points, including 26 goals in 40 games this season.

Ondrej Becher is ranked 84th. The 19-year-old, who is coming off a bronze medal with Czechia at the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship has 45 points in 30 games with the Cats.

Lastly, Hunter Laing is rated 108th. In his first full WHL season, the 17-year-old from Kelowna has six goals and seven assists in 40 games.

The highest-rated WHL skater is Chetwynd’s Cayden Lindstrom of the Medicine Hat Tigers, who is 3rd on the list.

Lindstrom has 27 goals so far this season with the Tigers, who sit second in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.

Miguel Marques of Prince George is rated 33rd. The local product has 45 points in 38 games with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The 2024 NHL Draft is set for June 28th and 29th at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
