2023 was about recreating opportunities and experiences for students.
That is according to CNC’s new President and CEO Cindy Heitman.
She said revamped open houses, orientations and convocations make students’ journeys through the college more “memorable.”
The biggest change within CNC was the change in Presidents; Heitman took over for Dr. Dennis Johnson, who retired this winter.
This year, CNC won the College and Institute Canada (CICan) “Program Excellence Award” for their Reintegration Industry Readiness Training Program.
Heitman said another positive from the 2023 year was the renovation the front entranceway, both inside and outside the Prince George campus.
Next year, Heitman said her goal is to further the College’s strategic plan, improving student experience, and committing to Truth and Reconciliation.
“The community as a whole can anticipate opportunities for feedback, collaboration, and community engagement,” she said. “Are we really meeting the needs of our students in the north? Are we really creating opportunities that lead to jobs for those choosing to stay in the north?”
“We are really focusing on how CNC can be a strong, high performing, world class organization that supports people wanting to be in the north,” Heitman said, in closing.
