Vehicle fire briefly closes Highway 97 south of Quesnel

Quesnel RCMP and the Quesnel Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire this (Tuesday) afternoon.

Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says police were called to a single-vehicle accident just before Sales Road just after 1:30.

“The vehicle, a pickup truck, struck a hydro pole and caught fire.  The Fire Department was on scene and extinguished the fire and one male was taken to hospital with minor injuries.”

Kronebusch says the male was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that was heading north at the time.

He says the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Kronebusch says the highway was closed briefly while the fire was being put out but has since re-opened in both directions.
