A pile-burning project is taking place at the Striegler Pit and Redmond Pit Road fuel management sites near Vanderhoof.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, it is to reduce the risk of wildfires in the area.
The burns will be conducted intermittently between now and December 16th with operations continuing at a later date in the New Year.
BC Wildfire Service crews prepared the sites in the spring by reducing both ground and ladder fuels.
Small, well-cured hand piles were made to minimize the impact of smoke to the public; however, some smoke may be visible from the town of Vanderhoof and areas near the project sites.
