BC Government to create standalone Ministry of Housing

The Provincial government will soon have a standalone ministry to deal with Housing.

“For too many British Columbians, owning or even renting a good home feels out of reach,” said Premier David Eby.

“The housing crisis deserves the attention of a full ministry and the resources that come with it. As premier, I am committed to making meaningful progress to make sure everyone in BC can afford a good home.”

Eby made the announcement today (Tuesday) at the Housing Central Conference in Vancouver.

The Minister of Housing will be named when Eby’s cabinet is announced on December 7th.

This comes one day after Eby announced the BC Government would be introducing several new laws in regards to housing.

Currently in BC, the Attorney General also serves as the Minister responsible for Housing.

The position is currently held by Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Murray Rankin, and was previously held by Eby before he became Premier.
