Old Chamber of Commerce building could house Bulkley Valley Child Development Centre

Vanderhoof families could enjoy a possible suitor for the old Chamber of Commerce building.

The Bulkley Valley Child Development Centre now offers it’s family services in the District, which includes running the Early Intervention Services previously organised by CNC.

The BVCDC is eyeing the old Vanderhoof Chamber of Commerce building as a potential home and is awaiting Vanderhoof Council’s decision on the matter. Centre Executive Director Kerri Bassett says the building’s central location and large spaces make it perfect for families.

In the meantime, the BVCDC is working out of the Carrier Sekani Family Services building. Bassett knows it’s only a matter of time before they have to move.

“They’ve been gracious in giving us some space there but as we continue to expand with more staff coming on board for the delivery of services in the community, and the amount of inventory and resources we need to offer the community and our program we’re going to need that space.”

The BVCDC may still be new to the community, but Bassett believes they’ll fit right in.

“As our organisation is familiar with delivering this service providing these services to the community around Early Intervention Therapy, we feel that we’re a great fit for the community and working with the community around therapy services around children and youth.”

The BVCDC also has satellite offices in Burns Lake, Fort St. James, and Fraser Lake.
