Hospital’s Physio Equipment gets $15,000 upgrade

You won’t need to leave Vanderhoof for a physiotherapeutic appointment anymore.

The Spirit of the North Foundation donated $15,000 worth of physiotherapy equipment to the St. John Hospital and Stuart Nechako Manor.

The Foundation’s Community Engagement Coordinator Esther Prosser says the new machines will save you a trip out of town.

“There’re patients in Vanderhoof or in the surrounding area who might come into Prince George for surgery and then they’re in recovery and they need some therapy, this means that they can go to their local hospital and have the therapy that they need,” she says.

She adds that this will benefit everyone.

“From seniors in care to somebody who’s maybe had a car accident and is recovering from injury to somebody who’s had a hip replace or a knee replacement. I mean, it’s really, really endless.”

The equipment has already been installed, which includes a SteadyMate Walker, a tilt table, and a portable unit with dumbbells, resistance bands, and ankle and wrist weights.
