British Columbia had the highest job vacancy rate in Canada at 2.8% during the final quarter of 2015.
Prince George which falls under the Cariboo region was slightly lower at 2.5% according to Stats Canada.
Senior Analyst, Myriam Hazel says the economic region also posted higher wages compared to the provincial average. “For Cariboo, the offered wage for the job vacancies is $19.20 while BC is at $18.50.”
For Trades, Transport and Heavy Equipment operators the offered wage in the Cariboo is $25.40.
It blows away the provincial average of $20.20 for that sector.
The Northwest Territories has the highest average hourly wage offered in Canada for vacant positions at $25.35 while Prince Edward Island had the lowest at $14.15.
Canada’s job vacancy rate was 2.3% in the final quarter of 2015 which equates to 353,000 openings.
