Vanderhoof ‘Ice Out’ party raises $1700 for Fort McMurray

Saturday night’s “Ice Out” event at the Vanderhoof Arena helped out the people of Northern Alberta.

The event raised $1700 for those affected in Fort McMurray. It’ll be donated to the Red Cross and the Federal government will double it.

Originally, the money was going to the Aquatic Centre, but Organisers decided to also help evacuees.

Tom Bulmer adds everyone was on board with the decision.

“As a matter of fact, we believe we got more people involved in the Ice Out event because they liked the idea that we were going to help out (Fort McMurray),” he says.
Bulmer shares his favourite part of the event.

“Many, many people got up on the dance floor. They were bouncing up and down and Fort McMurray was high on their minds. I think that was probably one of the highlights from the evening.”

The concert also raised $1500 for the District’s Aquatic Centre.
