Greg Stewart of Sinclar Forest Products named BC Council of Forest Industries board chair

The President of Sinclar Forest Products in Prince George is now the Board Chair of the BC Council of Forest Industries.

Greg Stewart took over for Canfor President and CEO Don Kayne on Monday (December 5th).

“I am excited to take on this role and continue the work with fellow COFI members, government, Indigenous Peoples, labour, communities, supply chain partners, and others to help shape the future of the forest sector in B.C.,” said Stewart.

“The COFI membership is made up of companies big and small from all over the province, who are working to ensure we maximize the power of sustainable forestry and forest products to help fight climate change, advance reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, and keep supporting good jobs and strong communities across B.C.”

Stewart began his career in forestry at Teck’s Cominco in Trail before returning to PG.

Sinclar owns and operates the Nechako Lumber Company in Vanderhoof, Apollo Forest Products in Fort Saint James as well as Lakeland Mills in PG.

He spent his first three years leading Winton Homes before becoming company president in 2009.

Stewart also serves as a Governor at UNBC and also is a director on the BC Lumber Trade Council board.
