The Prince George Cougars will have some new rules to learn for the 2026-2027 season, which will begin with a two-game home stand against the Penticton Vees on September 18.

The WHL has named Prince George Cougars goaltender Josh Ravensbergen as the recipient of the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy as the WHL's Goaltender of the Year.
And just like that, the Prince George Cougars season has come to a close. The Cougars lost a 3-2 heartbreaker in overtime to the Penticton Vees in a Game Six at the CN Centre last night, ending the Cougars season, and sending the Vees to face the Everett Silvertips in the Western Conference Final.
The goaltenders were the story in Game Five, with Cougars netminder Josh Ravensbergen turning aside all but one of the 29 shots he faced, including some massive stops to keep the Cougars within one.
"In playoff hockey, you got to play for keeps, and I thought we were casual. We get up two, it tricks you, you think it's going to be alright, we've been playing pretty good. You can't do that in playoffs, you can do that and maybe get away with it in October, but you certainly can't in the playoffs against a very good team."
"They pushed for sure, they're a good team, but really important for our group to come out and be prepared off the get go, and get two shorties right off the bat, everybody's starting to feel good about themselves, stay disciplined again here for the most part of the night, great effort in two games now," said Cougars Assistant Coach Carter Rigby on the post-game show on 94.3 the Goat.
"I think coming out of the last series, we wanted to get over here early and get ourselves organized and rested, and make sure we started on time, and I think that's what we did tonight," said Cougars Associate Coach Jim Playfair on the post-game show on 94.3 the Goat.
"Really nice to go up 2-0. We bent and bent, and we didn't break and we won the game," said Cougars Head Coach and GM Mark Lamb on the post-game show on 94.3 the Goat.
It came down to the last game in the WHL 2025-26 regular season to determine which team the Prince George Cougars would face in the first round of the playoffs.
