Burrard avenue between Stewart and Douglas street may see a speed limit enforced very soon.
It is an effort by both police and the District of Vanderhoof to slow down heavy traffic in the area.
Mayor, Gerry Thiessen says they would like it enforced as soon as possible.
“We are asking our staff to work as hard as possible, since we believe it’s coming back for public hearing in the next two weeks and we’ll go third reading plus an option after that.”
He adds the limit would make things safer too.
“We need to ask the logging trucks to slow down it adds about 20 seconds to find their way through but certainly it would save a lot of people in our community.”
If approved the new speed limit would be 30 kilometres an hour.
