The Nechako View Senior Citizens Home Society (NVSCHS) and Four Rivers Co-op teamed together for Fuel Good Day on September 19th.
Together, $2643.16 was raised for NVSCHS.
The saw 10 cents per litre sold at the gas station go towards the fundraiser, with over 20,000 litres sold on that day.
There was also a BBQ held with 100% of the proceeds being banked for NVSCHS.
“We’re doing this to give back to the community and support a great cause.” Four Rivers Co-op General Manger, Alan Bieganski, says.
NVSCHS is an organization that provides affordable housing for seniors over 55 in the Vanderhoof area, with residents from Fort St. James Fort Fraser as well.
“We thank the Co-op board and management for their dedication to us and their efforts on behalf of the people who need affordable housing.” says Len Fox, Past-President of NVSCHS.
The group currently has 36 units next to the hospital; the money raised is expected to help build 14 units next to the Catholic Church.
