Prince George, Peace River, & Northern Rockies MP Bob Zimmer has kicked off the annual Federal Conservative BC Caucus stakeholder meetings.
This is the first time in several years the meetings have been held in Northern BC, with topics up for discussion including Kinder Morgan, Site C, and family development.

Zimmer says the caucus has major concerns for the province.
“We’re concerned about the new political reality; we want to help them make sure that our economy keeps trucking right along. We also want to make sure that we can do our part is Federal Members of Parliament and as Senators to ensure that BC remains first in the country in terms of production.”
Zimmer believes moving forward with hydro dam projects like Kinder Morgan and Site C will boost the province’s economy.
He adds an NDP-Green government, should they form, wouldn’t fully understand the long-term benefits and ending them would cost thousands of jobs.
“The irony I think for the Weaver position is that, it can’t get much cleaner than hydroelectric power. We have to be looking to the future and make sure that these projects go ahead, especially green projects like a hydroelectric dam.”

If the Liberals are driven out of power and the NDP-Green alliance takes legislature, Zimmer also says Andrew Weaver will let the orange party guide the way.
“I think a lot of us are concerned that the economy is going to slow down as a result of this uncertainty for one, and their [NDP & Green] government’s approach to resource development.”
Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty will be in attendance for the meetings this weekend, as well as two Federal Senators.
