The Prince George RCMP have arrested a man following an ongoing police incident that backed up traffic along Highway 16 west today (Friday).
Cpl. Sonja Blom told Vista Radio the chase began following the suspect’s earlier interaction with an officer from another unit.
“This morning, just before 11 o’clock, a member of the BC Highway Patrol came across an overturned vehicle and saw a man nearby who ended up taking off. He (the officer) then located some suspicious items in the area and called out our police dog services who began a track.”
The incident occurred along the 23000 block of Highway 16 west
The suspect’s will remain in custody and charges are pending.

An ongoing police incident along Highway 16 west is under investigation by the Prince George RCMP.
Mounties confirmed to MyPGNow.com it is in relation to a suspicious incident the BC Highway Patrol came across this morning (Friday).
The road remains open in both directions although traffic is a bit slow going at the moment.
Motorists travelling through the area are asked not to pick up a Caucasian man in his 30’s who is believed to be hitch hiking.
