Fortis BC customers to see nearly 7% spike in electricity rates

Customers served by Fortis-BC will notice increases in their next bills.

Electricity rates went up by 6.74 per cent on New Year’s Day.

Renters may also see their charges increase.

As of January 1st, the maximum permissible rent increase in our province is 3.5 per cent.

That’s up from the two-per cent limit of last year.

Landlords must give their tenants at least three months’ notice of a rent increase.
