The Prince George Community Arts Council (PGCAC) is hoping to bring together a group of young people to put on a concert later this month.
Studio 2880 is hosting the first-ever Young Canadian Music Festival to display local talent among youth ages 19 and under.
PGCAC Executive Director Sean Farrell encourages all musical genres to enter.
“We’re looking for participants who could be taking private music lessons, or possibly just taking an instrument at a local high school as well. If students are interested in coming out and trying their piece with top, local, professional musicians, then this is a great opportunity.”
Farrell explains the three-day event is also being planned in conjunction with Canada’s 150th anniversary, the Prince George Symphony Orchestra (PGSO), and the Prince George Conservatory of Music (PGCM).
“There were a couple of things we wanted to try this year. We wanted to do more youth-oriented events, we wanted to support performing arts, and we also looking at supporting more Indigenous art, so we’re excited about all of this.”
The curtain is slated to rise on October 20th.
