Power restored in Vanderhoof after early morning outage

Power has been restored to the 84 customers that were without power in Vanderhoof early Friday morning.
BC Hydro Spokesperson Bob Gammer explains what caused the outage. “It was caused by a bird contacting our equipment.”
He adds the provincial hydro company welcomes any public feedback when an outage takes place. “We always encourage customers who notice an outage to call us. Even though the smart meter system is working we will still get notification of outages, we will take any information.”
The affected area included north of 1st Street, west of Stewart Street, east of Lampitt Avenue and south of Connaught Street.

The power is out in part of downtown Vanderhoof.

According to BC Hydro, the outage occurred just after 7:30 this morning and is affecting 84 customers. The affected area is north of 1st St, west of Stewart S, east of Lampitt Ave and south of Connaught St.

The cause is believed to be a bird flying into a piece of equipment. Crews arrived at the scene just before 9 am.
