Fire Chief Ron Richert said it was the owner who alerted them.

“He did call it in yes. He was present and he was actually driving at the time and pulled over off the side of the road because he did have some issues, and that’s when the vehicle burst into flames.”

Richert added the call came in just after 5 to the top of Plywood Hill on Lindsay Crescent.

“Upon arrival we had a fully involved vehicle off the roadway in a bit of an isolated area. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.”

He says fortunately no one was hurt.

As for the cause, Richert say they may never know due to the significant damage done to the truck, but it started in the engine compartment.
