Two collection events are taking place in Vanderhoof next week, hoping to aid local residents by taking any unwanted appliances.
ElectroRecycle will be at Home Hardware Wednesday, August 16th from 3PM to 6PM, as well as the following Thursday, August 17th at the Farmer’s Market from 10AM to 2PM.
Spokesperson Annie Goodwin explains some of the items you can and can not bring.
“The range is from a blender, to a microwave, even hair-straighteners and all that kind of stuff. However, if has a screen or personal information, such as TVs, computers, or phones, we can’t take at these drop off events.”
She adds this events helps local garbage collectors as well.
“It saves these items from going to the landfill. I know the ambassadors at these drop-offs last summer were overwhelmed because we don’t actually have a drop-off site for these items in Vanderhoof; the closest one is actually in Fraser Lake.”
ElectroRecycle says they can take more than 400 different kinds of small appliances and household items.
