Mounties wrangle pair of suspects following firearms incident near Tachie

The Fort St. James RCMP are investigating a firearms incident leading to the arrest of two individuals near the community of Tachie.

Earlier today (Thursday), officers received a report of gunshots being fired near Tachie. Once officers attended the area they could hear shots being discharged upon arrival.

One individual was safely taken into custody outside a residence. Other occupants inside the residence refused to exit when directed by police.

The North District Emergency Response Team was called in to assist.

Following the deployment of specialized resources, the other occupant was safely taken into custody without further incident and no injuries were reported.

“This was a dynamic situation involving reports of gunfire and individuals who were initially unwilling to comply with police directions,” said Cpl. Brett Urano of the BC RCMP.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of responding officers and the North District Emergency Response Team, the situation was resolved safely.”

The investigation remains ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
