Local musicians breaking out tunes for wildfire relief

Community Futures Stuart Nechako is throwing a party together this evening with the purpose of helping wildfire relief efforts.

The company has compiled and will stage local musicians to create the Project Fire Break benefit concert.

Organizer Tom Bulmer says the line-up promises to be family-friendly, which includes solo artists, as well as a seven-member band.

“Rosewood’s Diary would definitely be a reason to come, and Steve Regnier is a guy who has played professionally too. We also have Gee Gee’s Rhythm Band, Cathy and James Ionnone, Rick Romain and Friends; it will be a really cool evening of eclectic music.”

Though Vanderhoof hasn’t been directly affected by the BC wildfires in the last four weeks, Bulmer says it’s important for all northern communities to show support.

“This shows, once again, that Vanderhoof is stepping up, not to mention this will also showcase some very interesting music in our town in a very close, small venue. So I think you’ll find it an interesting evening to learn about the music of Vanderhoof, as well as help out our neighbors.”

Project Fire Break is taking place at the Village Inn Banquet Hall, admission is by donation only, and Bulmer adds every little bit is helpful.

Doors will open at 6PM, and the music begins at 7PM.
