Nechako Valley Community Services Society to celebrate milestone

The Nechako Valley Community Services Society (NVCSS) will celebrate its 40th anniversary at Ferland Park in Vanderhoof

The event runs from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday.

The NVCSS says they’re well prepared for the elements

“If it is raining we do have a backup plan to go to the arena but it looks like it’s going to be a nice day. We are going to have face painting, kids games and prizes and the food is going to be great as we’ll have popcorn, hot dogs, and cotton candy,” says Sheldon Brown, child, and youth care worker.

The milestone is a bit of a big deal says program manager and clinical supervisor Paula Wylie.

“We want to be able to recognize the agents and the services that we offer and we want everyone to be able to benefit from what we have. What we do is we adapt to what the community needs and we want to help celebrate families, that is what we really want to do.”

The non-profit society has been around since 1977 and serves communities like Fraser Lake, Vanderhoof, and Fort St James.

They offer a wide variety of services ranging anywhere from pre-NATO to seniors
