John Horgan is making his first official trip out-of-province this week as BC’s new Premier.
The leader of the BC NDP will head to Ottawa to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, with the intentions of discussing the current wildfire situation, the state of emergency, and the opioid crisis.

In a statement, Horgan says the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, which will also include other public officials.
“Working with our federal counterparts, we’ll find solutions to the urgent problems facing British Columbians. And we’ll make sure the services people count on like childcare, affordable housing, and public infrastructure are also a priority in these discussions.”
Afterwards, the Premier will head south of the border to Washington, DC to talk about BC jobs, specifically the softwood lumber dispute.
