Dental Hygienists in BC to assist victims of violence

The BC Dental Hygienists Association are doing their part to help women who are victims of abuse.

Northern Director, Tammy Gulevich says any women who may be affected by abuse or violence can meet with their hygienist.

“The nature of the appointment is often conducive to patients often opening up about issues they might not deal with other healthcare providers and they have a one hour session with a caring professional who wants to help.”

Dental Hygienists are often the first health care professional to recognize signs of abuse.

75% of physical injuries are inflicted to the head, neck, face or mouth.

The organization has entered a partnership with the Ending Violence Association of BC.
