UPDATE: Vanderhoof now under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain.

These thunderstorms are located 25 km east of Vanderhoof and are moving east at 15 km/h. they are in the vicinity of Highway 16, and approaching the Cluculz Lake area.

Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.

Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail.

Vanderhoof is under a severe thunderstorm watch.

According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.

The forecast for this evening calls for a 60% chance of showers or thundershowers and a low of nine degrees.
