About 20 dancers from the Hazelton area are heading to Prince George for a performance.
The Gitxsan All Clans Dancers will be at the CN Centre tomorrow (Saturday) performing right after the PG Cougars game against the Kamloops Blazers.
Executive Director Robert Sebastian said this came after the group performed an art presentation on January 3rd.
“As a result, they said they had Aboriginal Weekend going on too where they have dancers, and they decided to fit us into their busy schedule,” he said.
This is part of the Cougar’s Aboriginal Weekend with First Nations culture being showcased throughout the building.
Last year, the group performed in the Williams Lake Stampede parade, which Sebastian said was the largest event they attended prior to the hockey game.
“Once I knew that we were going to perform there, I let the kids know there will be a large crowd there with people from all walks of life,” he added.
Sebastian added when large events occurred, a song would be written about it to create a theatre of culture.
“We have dances for wolves, hummingbird, eagle, and a featured dance we will be doing on ice is a grizzly bear and it’s called the supernatural grizzly bear dance,” he said.
