Winter Storm to stick around Nechako Valley into Saturday

A snowfall warning that has been in place since Wednesday will extend into Saturday.

It continues to include Prince George, Stuart – Nechako, Lakes District, Bulkley Valley, near the Cariboo Mountains, Yellowhead, McGregor, Williston, Pine Pass, and Yellowhead Highway – TĂŞte Jaune Cache to the Alberta Border.

Between 15 to 25 centimetres is expected to fall between now and Saturday in the PG-area.

Snowfall accumulations for Saturday: 10 to 15 cm, except 15 to 25 cm for Burns Lake, Fort St. James, and near Highway 97 north of Prince George.

Another round of heavy snow is expected to start early Saturday morning.

The next system on Sunday will push most of the snow northward, near Pine Pass.

There is a risk of brief, localized freezing rain on Sunday and possibly Monday morning over the central interior regions. Roads may be slippery from a thin layer of ice.

A warming trend is expected starting Monday. Freezing levels are rising to 2000 to 2500 metres. Melting snow can give messy outdoor conditions early next week after several days of heavy snow.
