The District of Vanderhoof has acquired the United Church building.
In a release, people affiliated with the United Church approached council to sell their building at 2592 Church Avenue ensuring the property would continue to be used for community purposes.
After the Chief Building Inspector recommended a structural and hazard assessment, multiple concerns were identified to make the building functional including asbestos lead along with the roof and foundation.
Due to the state of the building, the district made a reduced offer to buy it and was later accepted by the United Church.
According to BC Assessment, the value of the property was $437,300.
