Vanderhoof Wait-listed for Curb Side Recycling

It could be a while before the district of Vanderhoof gets curb side recycling.

In a letter to council, Multi Material BC said there is currently no plan to expand their recycling program into the 25% of communities currently without curb-side collection.

“They’ve told us that we are on a wait-list and they thanked us for wanting to be a part of the program” said Clement. “But they also said don’t expect the call too soon, because they don’t have any plans of expanding the program.”

The district missed the deadline to join the program the first time around in 2013.

“We didn’t get in on the first round” said Clement. “We looked at it and by the time we were able to put our stuff together, it was already passed.”

MMBC says they’ve reached their provincially mandated target to collect 75% of packaging and printed paper recycling in BC.
