BC residents including those in the north are paying a little more out of pocket when using DoorDash.
Earlier this week, the food-delivery service introduced a 99-cent regulatory response fee for all restaurant delivery orders and up to $2.99 for all other transactions.
It’s in response to the province’s new guaranteed wage of $20.88 per hour for gig workers, which includes food-delivery drivers.
The rate is before tips plus an additional 35-cents per kilometre during time spent on each delivery.
The BC government estimates there are 35-thousand delivery workers in the province.
