Vanderhoof to hold BC Rivers Day Celebration

The District of Vanderhoof is one of 30 BC Communities recognizing BC Rivers Day on Sunday.

The local event runs from 10 AM to 12 PM, as people can get on theNechako River from the bridge on Highway 27 down to Riverside Park.

At noon, the Vanderhoof Tourism and Cultural Centre, is holding a lunch with learning about Peter Rodseth’s legacy and conservation efforts towards the Nechako River.

“BC Rivers Day is more than just a celebration—it’s a movement that began here in BC and has grown into a global event,” said Soraya Olszewski, Communication and Engagement Officer of the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC.

“Our rivers are threatened by pollution, habitat loss, industrial development, invasive species, and climate change. BC Rivers Day provides a meaningful opportunity to learn about and give back to the rivers that connect us.”
