Lucas Lake wildfire evacuation order rescinded

The wildfire evacuation order over Lucas Lake, about two hours southwest of Vanderhoof, has been rescinded.

An evacuation alert is still in place, but those living in the area are no longer required to vacate.

The fire is still considered out of control by the BC Wildfire Service, sitting at an estimated 1,487 hectares large.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, there are 40 people still fighting the fire.

The order being lifted has followed a recent trend of positive developments, the VanJam Fire Zone is now down to just one wildfire of note.
