Some rain forecasted in Prince George for the next few days

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Prince George area, but with that could come much-needed rain.

“It looks like overall it will be a fairly small amount,” said Environment Canada Meteorologist Philippe Alain-Bergeron.

“It might be, just locally, a possibility of getting a lot more if you happen to be right under the heavier showers or thunderstorms that we are expecting pretty much every afternoon for the next couple of days.”

Alain Bergeron said those localized showers could bring between 15 and 25 millimetres.

“Aside from those very localized showers and thunderstorms, overall it’s just maybe a millimetre or less.”

He added that those showers could be seen out near Vanderhoof as well.

“It will be mostly just isolated showers or thunderstorms,” he said.

“But again these will be varying very wildly across the region, because if you do get thunderstorms it could be several millimetres in just a very short period.”

Alain-Bergeron added the smoke in the air will remain a challenge in our region for the next few days, before we see some improvement next week.
