The best of BC’s small businesses were celebrated at the Small Business BC Awards Gala, and a Vanderhoof business is bringing home the top prize.
The Speckled Sow Butchery and Market were named the Business Impact Award Winner, an award that recognizes a business that has taken positive action to invest in their community and views social responsibility as an integral part of their success.
“It goes to show that hard work, and more hard work really do pay off,” said co-owner Matt Giesbrecht.
“The support of your community, family and friends goes a long way.”
613 nominees from 84 communities were narrowed down to the top five based on more than 74,000 public votes and written responses judged by business experts.
The finalists then pitched their businesses to a panel of BC business leaders who picked the winner for each category.
