Prince George Fire Centre clamping down on open burning with updated ban

As of noon on Thursday Category 2 and 3 open burning will be banned within the Prince George Fire Centre.

The ban will remain in place until Sunday, October 15th, or until the order is rescinded.

The use of fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels, or cages along with air curtain burners and binary exploding targets will be prohibited.

This Order applies to the following geographic boundaries as illustrated on the attached map.

• the Stuart Nechako Forest District
• the Mackenzie Forest District
• the Peace Forest District
• the Fort Nelson Forest District

Anyone found in contravention of an open-burning prohibition may be issued a violation ticket for $1,150, may be required to pay an administrative penalty of up to $10,000 or, if convicted in court, may be fined up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to one year in jail.
