Charlie Lake resident cashes in big, claims $500,000 Lotto Max prize

The holiday season for a Charlie Lake man is off to a joyful start.

William Boutilier won the $500,000 Extra prize from the November 18th Lotto Max draw.

“A coworker mentioned someone may not show up at work because someone won in Fort St. John,” recalled Boutilier. “That’s when I checked my ticket on the Lotto! App and found out I won!”.

The Charlie Lake resident was most excited to share the news with his wife, who didn’t believe him at first.

Apart from celebrating with his family, Boutilier plans to save some of his winnings for his sons.

“I am speechless and overwhelmed. This win makes life financially less stressful and will set my boys up for the future,” added Boutilier.

He purchased and validated his winning ticket at the Q Mart on 100 Avenue in Fort St. John.

So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $41 million in winnings from the Extra and more than $165 million from Lotto Max.
