The Prince George RCMP is investigating a fatal hotel fire along the 15-hundred block of Victoria Street that claimed the life of one person and seriously injured two others.
Emergency crews responded to the call just after 11 pm on Saturday and when they arrived, found a significant flame exiting the window and door of a main floor hotel unit.
Cpl. Jennifer Cooper told Vista Radio the identity of the deceased is not being made public at this time.
“We will have fire investigators as well as our forensic identification unit conducting their investigation later this week and we will remain at the hotel until our fire investigators can get into the room.”
“Currently, we are waiting for the room to be able to be entered – that’s going to take a little bit of time as we wait for conditions to be appropriate for our investigators to go in there.”
There were no injuries to emergency personnel. Damage is estimated at $125,000.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

One person has died and two others sustained serious injuries following a structure fire along the 15-hundred block of Victoria Street.
According to the City, fire crews responded to the call just after 11 pm on Saturday (26th) night.
When firefighters arrived, they found a significant flame exiting the window and door of a main-floor hotel unit.
A quick response extinguished the blaze and limited it to the impacted unit.
There were no injuries to fire personnel. Damage is estimated at $125,000.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
