The latest report from our auditor general says five billion dollars have been spent by the province on repair and recovery efforts, following last year’s natural disasters.
Michael Pickup says the cost of coping with wildfires, landslides, and floods, totals more than had been spent on weather-related disasters over the previous 19 years.
His report, released yesterday (Tuesday), also says the government is trying to recover 10.5-million dollars in pandemic relief grants from more than
10-thousand people.
Pickup says these people received the one-thousand-dollar payout, even though they didn’t file the required 2019 income tax return.
