UNBC to seek community input in forming new Strategic Plan

UNBC has started to develop a new Strategic Plan for the University.

“[Tuesday] was the launch of the renewal and refreshing of our strategic vision for the university, through what will be a very engaged process with our community to set the direction where UNBC goes in the future,” said Dr. Geoff Payne, UNBC President.

One part of the process will be community engagement, which will be extended to the community surrounding the university.

“What’s really critical in this process is hearing ‘their’ voice, because it is their university,” Payne said.

“We really want to hear from both our internal community members, as well as our external.”

Payne added the review comes at a good time, as UNBC recently hit a milestone.

“It’s always good for a university to hit pause and really reflect on where it is,” he explained.

“When you think about UNBC being 30 years old now, and building upon the community’s vision, that 16,000 that signed a petition to start the university, and this past May, we’ve now reached a milestone with 16,000 graduates from UNBC.”

Community engagement and the development of the strategic plan are expected to last until June of next year, with the launch of the strategic plan coming in September.
