PG Fire Centre rescinding three-month long open fire ban

Category 2 and 3 fires will be allowed once again within the Prince George Fire Centre.

The ban on these blazes will end as of noon today (Tuesday). The restrictions had been in place since the end of July.

A prohibition on several activities and the use of equipment, materials, and substances will also wrap up.

This includes fireworks, air curtain burners, sky lanterns burn barrels, or burn cages of any size or binary exploding targets.

The BC Wildfire Service also reminds the public that anyone lighting a Category 3 fire must first obtain a burn registration number. Registration numbers are available by calling 1-888-797-1717 or emailing [email protected].

In addition, campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide (or smaller) and the use of cooking stoves that use gas or propane remain permitted.
