At long last, Darlene McIntosh and Geoff Payne are officially Chancellor and President of UNBC.
McIntosh is a Lheidli T’enneh elder, it was announced that she would become the 8th Chancellor of the university in the early summer on July 15th.
Dr. Geoff Payne was announced as the University’s sixth President on May 15th.
Both of them were officially installed in their roles in a special ceremony this morning at the University.
This afternoon, the University will also be holding a special in person celebration for the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021, who were unable to celebrate face to face because of the pandemic.
Three honorary degrees will also be handed out in this ceremony, to Artist Ron Sebastian, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Natan Obed, and Carrier Sekani Family Services CEO Warner Adam.
