Food prices up 11.4%, reaching 41-year high in Canada: Stats Canada

The price of food at grocery stores has hit a 41-year high in Canada.

That’s according to StatCan which says food prices continued to soar in September reaching 11.4 percent.

The agency says Canadians paid more for meat, dairy, baked goods, and veggies last month.

Officials say unfavorable weather, higher prices for fertilizer and natural gas, as well as geopolitical instability from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine all had a hand in the price hike.
